2004 Boston Society of Landscape Architects Merit Award
We are working with the MBTA, the architect, and the community to develop a 4 1/2 acre linear park connecting Olmsted's Franklin Park to the Arnold Arboretum. This park will be situated behind the proposed Arborway Bus Facility.
We have developed three Schematic Plans, one of which is shown here. The main features in all three plans include Olmstedian characteristics such as undulating topography, curving paths, and naturalistic elements of rocks, plantings and small water features. There are separate paths for pedestrians, bicyclists and joggers. Opportunities for sitting and informal recreation occur throughout the park. The sidewalk area along the Arborway itself will also be upgraded with additional plants and new pavement when the Bus Facility is constructed.
