2003 Boston Society of Landscape Architects Merit Award
Johansson Design Collaborative attended numerous community meetings that precipitated lively conversation with the teachers, administrators, school staff, parents, neighbors and the agencies to establish the design intent for transforming three sections of this schoolyard.
The design provides various types of spaces, equipment, and paths for physical exercise and active games as well as spaces for quiet games, fantasy play and exploration of the natural environment, while revealing and engaging the unique cultural diversity of the community.
